The Agriculture Division was started in the late seventees when a
number of investments were made in beef cattle at Mountain View Estates
and Tobacco at Rumion Farm.
Today the major investments is in the piggery at Rumion Farm. Rumion, is PNG's largest producer of pigs with around 10,500 head. Rumion is the major supplier to an associated company "Prima Smallgoods". In addition to pig production Rumion grows corn (maize) for stockfeed and has a small beef herd. Rumion farm is situated about ninety kilometres from Lae in the middle of the Markham Valley. In late 1993 Kenmore purchased equity in Damba Pty Limited which trades as Prima Smallgoods. The investment has secured a guaranteed outlet for the produce of Rumion. |
